Something small and golden was found beneath a frosted leaf in Primrose Wood this morning.

Pickles lifted it carefully in both paws. Inside was a message written in silver ink.

The Christmas Star is growing dim.

To help it shine again on Christmas Eve, Primrose Wood must gather twenty-four Christmas Sparks. Little moments of wonder, kindness, courage and Christmas magic.

That is why Pickles, Penny and Binks are writing to you.

From 1 December, open one letter each day. There will be a new piece of the story to discover, a sticker to add to the woodland and a small festive thing to make, notice or do.

Every time you join in, another Christmas Spark is found.

And by Christmas Eve, if all twenty-four Sparks have been collected, the Christmas Star might just shine over the Woodland Christmas Gathering once more.

On 1 December, your first letter will be waiting.

What arrives at your door

Your complete Advent Calendar arrives together in late November, ready to be tucked away until 1 December.

Inside you'll find everything you need for twenty-four days in Primrose Wood.

  • 24 story letters

One new chapter of the Primrose Wood adventure to open every day from 1 December until Christmas Eve.

  • 24 matching stickers

Each letter has its own sticker, ready to find its place somewhere on the growing Christmas scene.

  • One illustrated fold-out Christmas poster

a quiet snowy village on the 1st, a full festive gathering by the 24th

  • 24 festive activities

A different little piece of Christmas to enjoy each day.

  • 24 Christmas Sparks to collect

little moments of wonder, kindness, courage and Christmas magic to discover along the way.

One village. Twenty-four days. Watch it change.

On 1 December, your child's A4 poster shows Primrose Wood just as Pickles, Penny and Binks find it.

A quiet snowy village, waiting.

Each day, another piece of the story is added.

A Christmas tree. Lanterns glowing between the branches. A gingerbread stall. A postbox for wishes. Friends who were shy at first, now gathered together beneath the lights.

Every sticker marks something that has happened in the story.

And by Christmas Eve, the quiet village has become something else entirely.

It is full of decorations, animals, discoveries and little moments your child remembers from the twenty-four days before.

It isn't simply a poster with stickers on it. It is the whole Christmas story, finished. And it is theirs to keep.

Nothing is counted down. Everything is built up.

A little Christmas something to do each day

Every letter comes with its own festive activity card, inspired by whatever is happening that day in Primrose Wood.

One day Penny might persuade you to make paper snowflakes.

Another might be spent curled up with a Christmas book, decorating the tree, making hot chocolate or baking gingerbread friends ready for the Woodland Christmas Gathering.

There are quieter days too.

Sing a Christmas song. Wear something festive. Notice the decorations on a winter walk. Make a card for somebody you love. Choose something kind to give away.

The activities are there to give families a little reason to stop and enjoy December together, without every day needing to become a big event.

And each card ends with a small Primrose Wood touch, bringing what your child has done at home gently back into the world of the story.

A little peek at what's waiting

  • Decorate the Tree

Begin Christmas at home with one carefully chosen decoration and a quiet Christmas wish.

  • Make Paper Snowflakes

Fold, snip and slowly open the paper to see what kind of snowflake has appeared.

  • Read a Christmas Book

Find somewhere cosy, settle in together and choose one little part of the story you'd like to remember.

  • Make Salt Dough Ornaments

Mix, roll and shape decorations of your own, including one that looks as though it could hang on the Great Fir Tree.

  • Hot Chocolate

Make something warm to drink and imagine you've stopped beside the cocoa stall in Primrose Wood.

  • Make Gingerbread Friends

Bake and decorate a little gingerbread character ready to join the Woodland Christmas Gathering.

December doesn't always go to plan

Some December days are made for baking gingerbread.

Some are made for getting everyone into pyjamas and simply reading the next letter.

There is no need to complete every activity on the exact day it appears.

Swap days around. Come back to one at the weekend. Choose an easier alternative. Or simply enjoy the story and sticker that day.

There is no falling behind.

Primrose Wood will still be waiting tomorrow.

Meet the friends you'll be helping this December

  • Pickles the Hedgehog - the one who tries

Small, round and careful, with a satchel, a notebook and usually something important held in both paws. Pickles doesn't always know the right answer straight away. He begins anyway.

  • Penny the Pixie - the one who plays

Quick, bright and curious, with a gift for finding a plan hiding inside an ordinary pinecone. Penny doesn't like things to feel too heavy for too long, and reminds everyone that joy is useful.

  • Binks the Wood Mouse - the one who notices

Small and still, with soft paws and a way of hearing things that others nearly miss. Binks doesn't hurry. When someone feels shy, worried or unsure, Binks usually knows what's needed.

Together, they're getting ready for the biggest night of the Primrose Wood year. This December, your child helps them do it.

Twenty-four little Sparks to collect along the way

Hidden inside each day's story is a Christmas Spark. Not something to buy or unwrap. Just a small moment worth noticing. Sometimes it might be noticing something beautiful that would usually be missed. Sometimes it is helping without being asked. Trying something brave. Waiting patiently. Sharing something you love. Making someone laugh.

The Sparks are woven quietly into the adventure, appearing through Pickles, Penny, Binks and the friends they meet along the way.

By Christmas Eve, your child hasn't only watched Primrose Wood change. They've gathered twenty-four little moments from the Christmas they spent there.

Wonder · Kindness · Courage · Patience · Generosity · Togetherness · Love · Magic · and so much more

Written and painted by hand, just like every Tilly's letter

Tilly's Letters began with one little idea.

That real post, arriving through the front door especially for a child, can hold a kind of magic that is increasingly difficult to find.

That hasn't changed.

The stories are still written with the same care they always have been, and every illustration is painted in watercolour by Alison, working alongside her daughter Fiona.

The Primrose Wood Advent Calendar has been created in much the same way.

Twenty-four letters. A whole Christmas story. A woodland world drawn and painted by hand.

It is made in small batches and packed with the same care as the letters that already arrive through doors across the country each month.

Because something a child waits all December to open should feel rather special before they've even begun.

Not just for little ones

For children of every age, and for the grown-ups who never quite stopped believing a bit of post could feel like magic

It's for a two-year-old discovering their first proper Christmas story, and it's for a ten-year-old who still loves finding an envelope with their name on it. It's for the grandchild you'd love to send something to that isn't another toy, and it's for the grown-up in your own house who quietly looks forward to December post as much as the children do.

Sending a little Christmas magic to someone else?

The Advent Calendar makes a lovely gift for grandchildren, godchildren, nieces, nephews and little people you might not get to see every day in December.

Send it directly to their home and add a gift message with your order.

We'll carefully pack everything together, ready for the adventure to begin on 1 December.

One gift. Twenty-four days of something to look forward to.

FAQs

When will I be charged?

You'll pay in full when you place your pre-order. This reserves your Advent Calendar from our Christmas 2026 batch.

When will my calendar arrive?

Your complete Advent Calendar will be dispatched in late November, with plenty of time for it to arrive before the story begins on 1 December.

We'll let you know when your order is on its way.

Do the 24 letters arrive separately?

No.

Everything arrives together inside your Advent Calendar in late November.

From 1 December, your child simply opens the next letter each day to discover what happens next.

When do we open the first letter?

The adventure begins on Tuesday 1 December 2026.

Open Letter One that day, then continue with one new letter each day until Christmas Eve.

Is there an age limit?

No. It suits a young child having their first Christmas story, an older child who still loves post with their name on it, and any grown-up buying it for themselves.

What kind of activities are included?

There is a mixture of making, baking, music, stories, giving, decorating and little festive outings.

You might make paper snowflakes one day, sing Christmas songs the next, make salt dough decorations, bake gingerbread, write to Santa, make hot chocolate or head out to look for something Christmassy nearby.

Every activity is connected to whatever is happening in Primrose Wood that day.

Do we have to complete every activity?

Not at all.

The activities are there to add a little extra Christmas magic, not another thing to keep up with.

Some take only a few minutes, while others are better suited to a slow afternoon or weekend. If a day doesn't work for your family, save the card for later, swap it with another day or simply enjoy that day's letter and sticker.

The story will carry on either way.

Will I need to buy lots of extra materials?

Most activities use ordinary things you may already have at home, such as paper, pencils, craft materials or simple baking ingredients.

A few activities need particular ingredients or a little more planning, and each card clearly tells you what you might need.

Where an outing or particular activity may not work for every family, we've included a simple alternative wherever possible.

How big is the Christmas poster?

The illustrated Christmas scene is A4 size.

It begins as a quiet Primrose Wood on 1 December, with space for each of the 24 matching stickers to be added as the story unfolds.

By Christmas Eve, the completed poster shows the Woodland Christmas Gathering in full.

Can I send the Advent Calendar as a gift?

Yes.

You can send it directly to someone else's address and include a gift message with your order.

We'll carefully pack everything together, ready for them to begin on 1 December.

Do you ship outside the UK?

Currently we are only shipping within the UK.

What if I already subscribe to Tilly's Letters?

The advent calendar is a separate, one-off preorder and doesn't affect your existing subscription. You're welcome to have both arriving this December.

What happens if I miss the 10 November preorder date?

Because every calendar is printed and packed to order, we can't guarantee delivery in time for 1 December once preorders close.

What if something arrives damaged, or a letter goes missing in the post?

Get in touch at hello@tillysletters.com and we'll sort it. Every family who preorders should have their full twenty-four days.

Can I buy more than one?

Absolutely.

You can order multiple Advent Calendars if you're buying for different children or families.

Each calendar contains its own complete set of 24 story letters, 24 stickers, 24 activity cards and A4 Christmas poster.

Made with stories, paint, paper and a little bit of Primrose Wood magic.
