Our Story

Tilly’s Letters began during maternity leave, in the quieter days of early parenthood.

With a new baby and time slowing down, I found myself thinking about the kind of childhood I wanted to create. One with space for imagination. One where not everything arrives instantly. One where receiving something through the post still feels special.

I am Fiona, and Tilly’s Letters is run by my mum and me. As my daughter grew, even in those earliest months, I began looking for small, beautiful things we could return to as she grew older. Moments that felt meaningful without being overwhelming. Activities that invited connection, without adding to the mental load of parenting.

At the same time, my mum Alison was painting. She has always created gentle, thoughtful illustrations and watercolours, and we had been talking about how her work could be shared more widely. Slowly, the idea took shape. What if her illustrations became something children could grow up with.

Tilly’s Letters brings those ideas together.

Each month, an envelope arrives through the letterbox, addressed just to your child. Inside are illustrated cards, simple activities, and gentle prompts designed to be opened together. Nothing complicated. Nothing rushed. Just enough to spark curiosity and leave space for imagination.

Everything is made with slowness, beauty, and family bonding at its heart. So parents can enjoy it too. So children feel the quiet excitement of something that is theirs. And so small rituals can form naturally, month by month.

Tilly is not a person, but a feeling. The anticipation of the letterbox. The pause before opening. The magic found in everyday moments.

Our hope is that these letters become part of family life. Tucked away, revisited, and remembered for years to come.
